gestational sac measuring week behind after IUI

I am 7 wks, 5 days pregnant with my first.  Today I went to our fertility doctor for the first ultrasound.  She saw the gestational sac and said it was measuring about a week behind where it should be.  Did not see a heartbeat and they were not clear about a yolk sac (my uterus wasn't cooperating).  I have to go back in a week to see if the sac has grown and if anything else can be seen.  The doctor said I could have ovulated later than we thought OR I could miscarry; however, I became pregnant through an IUI procedure. So how could have I ovulated late?  Is that possible?  Is it possible that maybe it just implanted later than expected?  Has anyone had a similar experience while undergoing IUIs?

This is my first pregnancy and we have been trying for 2 years.
